 | Define "Compassion"? |
After reading and looking at all the different situations where Jesus actually demonstrated compassion, it is clear that firstly, the situations vary from each other. In the case of the raising the dead boy, Jesus had demonstrated compassion to the mother, in feeding the multitude, Jesus demonstrated compassion to his followers, etc under different circumstances. Thus secondly, while compassion could mean love for others, sharing how others feel, etc, it also could essentially mean creating a responsibility within oneself to act in a way that would help the cause of another fellow brother or sister. Compassion, according to Jesus is not just feeling of sympathy towards others but more importantly taking an action to remedy that feeling within him. By helping those we are compassionate through action, it eases us since we get satisfaction out of helping other people. By: Andrew Nihopara Category: Compassionate - Helping the Hurting |
