In what ways are Jesus` followers salt and light to the world? Salt was used( and Still is) to flavour and preserve food(ie Meat). It was also used in religious services of the Jews as an accompaniment to the various offerings presented at the alter. The followers of Jesus were the salt to the many souls that were saved i.e they were the accompaniment to those that were converted and saved. They brought with them a faith that they helped flavour and preserve.They were told "to be the light of the world." and were expected to uphold Jesus teachings( the Word) and to be an example to others in their works as deciples of Christ.
