However different to me, he would have felt kindness towards his tormentors. The forgiving of people who "trespass against us", is the seperation between God and man. This type of bad value judgement is common even today. People favour alcohol, nicotin and gambling instead of good health. These types of bad decisions can be seen all around us. The missing link with the Jews was a belief in Jesus as it is for many of us today. Although Jesus had warned Peter that he would deny him, Peter did so three times. How often I have done a similar thing, I pray that I get the strength finally given to Peter. What was Jesus feeling and thinking while he was mocked and humilated in front of others? Recall Jesus own teachings (Matt 5:11), "Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.
