Jesus looks, beyond where we are now and can see how worthwhile we can become.

An interesting question.

It could be said Judas, was like most of us, who will mostly do the wrong thing but Jesus gave him every opportunity not to betray Him. 

It may also be said that Judas was doing a task which needed to be done. Against this proposal, is the fact that Judas later committed suicide so he regretted his actions.
