Jesus demostrates a true obidient Son in Him by doing this. His Father sent Him on a mission which He agreed on, He chose to be so obidient, even though He knew what lay ahead of Him, yes I can say that Jesus was some how afraid, but He chose to continue. Jesus showed a lot of love by deciding to go ahead and drink on the cup that was awaiting Him. He that once He quit, no body would do it for Him, for us who badly neede salvation but did.nt knwo we did. Jesus knew he would be killed in Jerusalem, and still he led the way. What characteristics does Jesus demonstrate here?

Jesus felt love for this rich man, and guided him to focus on treasures in heaven instead of treasures on earth. What is heavenly treasure? Heavenly treasure is salvation. The journey of accepting Jesus Christ as one's personal savior involves Giving up some of what makes one's life cnfortable, so as to recieve the promise of God to His annointed one's. However it does not mean that one has to go beyond being poor. Heavenly treasure means giving up what is less valuable in our lives, to recieve the Holy Spirit, God's blessing and Eterna life. In this case, one leads His/Her life not on the way she desires or wishes, but by the counsel of the Holy Ghost.

Jesus emphasizes the phrase "in my name" when refering to the miracle and giving a cup of water. What does it mean to do something in Jesus` name? It means just like He said all through His teachings, that nobody goes to the Father unless through the Son. The Father sent the Son down here to cover up our sins, to bridge the gap that had grown too wide between Mankind and her Creator, thus, nobody knows the Father too much than His Son. However the Son said this, that whover obeys Him, obeys the one who sent Him, and the reverse is true. Asking in His name simply means to obey Him, doing what He wants us to because, those who live by Him, must be considered faithful.
