Everything about Jesus was very abnormal, if not supernatural, from the miracles,a nd the way He spoke about Himself. Pilate wasn't sure whow as right between the Jews and the man who was claiming to be their king. However i think Pilate had followed the envents following the birth of the Christ in the reign of Herod the king, because they all awaited the coming of the messiah, but they couldn't be sure if Jesus was the one. He didn't want to be one to execute him.
