"Was Jesus trying to incite his death (eg. temple cleansing, accusation of leaders?) No. But in His own subtle way, He was preparing everyone for the imminent death. This death could not be explained away before it happens. People and the disciples close to him and loved ones has to witness the torture and His sacrifice to fully understand what it was all about. He was brave and like any human had his moments of fear, but He stood firm because He knew that this is what the Father has sent Him to do.
