When Luke says that he traced the course of all things from the first (which i would assume to be the beginning), he is saying that his account differs from the others in that he has presented his report chronologically and in order from the beginning, gleaned and gathered from eyewitnesses and other interviewees. It is not just a disjointed and jumbled account of events.
