What did Mary understand about who was in her womb before the birth of Jesus? Mary understood that the promised Messiah will be in her womb. And she humbly said to the angel who brought her the news that she is God's servant and that God may do with her as He saw fit. She rejoiced and she never even thought of the risk she would face being an unwed pregnant woman in those times.
