No Jesus was not trying to incite his death or to provoke those leaders and force them to arrest him and eventualy put him to death. 5O times in the new testament He predicted his death, and how it will going to happen. God so love us He sent His Only Son-- Jesus-- as ultimate sacrifice for the forgiveness of our sins and have a new life,reconcilling Us to the Father, that was broken during the time of adan and eve that friendship with God has been broken and Jesus was to be sacrifice to have that relationship be restored, thats the ulmimate love of  God for us.
