What is Jesus trying to teach his disciples? Jesus taught HIS disciples about HIS kingdom - that they might be able to preach about it. He also taught them full dependence on HIM. It is also implied, that there will be people who will not receive their Good News and that this may cause them to falter- but they were taught to just go on.
The kingdom of GOD is rulership of GOD.

John the Baptist Prepares ther Way Jesus was baptized by John because Jesus allowed it to fulfill all righteousness ''Mat 3:15''. It is JESUS public declaration of His substitutionary work for HIS own people. Instead of HIS people receiving the wages of sin, He paid for it, taking all our sin to HIMSELF and imputing HIS righteousness on us - HIS people.
