Why did Jesus? penalty for sin need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God? because Jesus had to suffer like a regular human being, He was made flesh, just like us, meaning He mad to suffer like us. Whatever a human being felt, He had too feel to. If He had to die for the sins of many, then He must die like one of us...
