What was it about Jesus` answer that caused the Pharisees and Herodians to marvel? They marveled coz they were surprised of GOD`s abilty to identify their true intention that is to test Him.

The line, Give therefore to Caesar` the things that are Caesar`s, and to God the things that are God`s implies an heavy meaning especially to hypocrite people. In my own point of view, god is trying to let the pharisees know that they also have obligation to the laws on earth and should not bear negative thoughts against the people in authority for it is only God who has the power to judge or condemn. Otherwise, they should focus and give to the Lord the favor which increases the spiritual capacity to worship and Glorify the Lord. Everyone is therefore responsible for his own salvation.
