When Jesus "breathed his last" and was pronounced dead; why did The Roman centurion glorify god? He certain that Jesus was a righteous man. When it was about the sixth hour, darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour. The sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was torn in two. Jesus, crying with a loud voice, said, `Father, into your hands I commit my spirit!'' and having said this, he breathed his last breath.
