Why do you think Jesus chose, after he rose, to show Himself first to Mary Magdalene? Because she was weeping outside Jesus' tomb and met Jesus there. Jesus wanted her to go and tell the disciples that she had seen the Lord and that he had told her that he is ascending to his Father and your Father, his God and your God.

What type of circumstances are there today that might lead one to be a disciple of Jesus, but in secret, like Joseph of Arimathea? In case of persecution, for example those who live under a government who did not allow the preaching of gospel, such as in Muslim countries.
