He has control over all things, and He can give us what we need. He will give us what he deems best for us. The heart, or affections, will of course be fixed on the treasure. To regulate the heart, it is therefore important that the treasure, or object of attachment, should be right. We should take care to do good in our life-time, and make this the business of our lives. We are really doing our duty to God when we are faithful in our duty to men.

Why was Zaccheaus so joyful when Jesus asked to stay at his house? Christ is come to his house, and, where Christ comes, he brings salvation along with him. He is, and will be, the Author of eternal salvation to all that own him as Zaccheus did. Yet this is not all. Salvation this day comes to his house.
