Jesus was commited to sacrifice his own life. What did he mean by the statement, "For who ever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel will save it"?

Jesus means that whoever who will live for riches on earth will lose his life in hell but whoever who will live a life for the people and for God will be with him in heaven....

"Who saves his life will loose it"refers to those who adhered to the earthly ways of life and sin, will lose it as he will not be saved. "who looses his life for my sake and the gospel, will be saved " means those who gave up a life that follows the ways of the world and its sins and instead follow Jesus and the life of righteousness according to the gospel, will be saved.

Jesus meant that whoever follows and obeys his teachings, spread the good news to the lost, help the poor and sufferings, and if, as a result like Apostle Paul died for the sake of Christ, will be saved. Whereas those who knew the gospel and yet hang on to worldly pleasures first will not be able to taste eternal life in heaven.
