This is Jesus` sharp response to a trick question about divorce from religious lawyers. What does Jesus say is God`s role in a marriage? What motivation to stay together might Jesus offer a struggling couple?

God's role in a marriage is that He was the One who created them, man and woman, and He was the One who joined them together as one in the sacrament of marriage and therefore no man should do otherwise. Knowing and believing that it was God who put them together and God wants them to stick it out together no matter what and knowing that to divorce is against God's will, this is more than enough to motivate struggling couple to lift up their marriage to God, stay together and believe that God loves them.

From the very outset man and woman is bond to love physically and in spirit and to set a family for propagation. When the love bond is separated either by physical death or mutual consent , divorce is granted for the spouses to continue living in separate lifes.
