Jesus claimed that after a future period of destruction and distress, he (The Son of Man) will come back to earth with great power and glory. What did Jesus say he would do at that time? HE will send his angels to gather His chosen ones from all over the world to His Kingdom.

Why does Jesus call "Love One Another" a "New" commandment? I think "Love one another" is a simplified version of the ten commandments in Deutronomy 5:6-21. It prevents us from commiting sin against one another.
