The role of the holy spirit was to be with young Jesus while he was physically weakest from hunger when Satan tempted him: 1. For steadfastness to cling on to Gods words 2. For faithfulness to God forsaking self honour and glory 3. For not trying to test God. The temptations are lessons that man may face in his resolve to follow God irrespective of the circumstances during his journey through life.1
