Why did Jesus´ penalty for "sin" need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God?

He needed to accomplish His mission on earth and it entailed physical and emotional pain as well as spiritual separation from God.He was the sacrifice that was required for Sin to be wiped out from all those who believe in Him.He bled and died and shed His Blood to redeem our souls and present us spotless before God.

"Was Jesus trying to incite his death (eg. temple cleansing, accusation of leaders?)

Jesus fulfilled the prophecy of His coming and God’s plan of redeeming the world and conquering Sin. His each and every act was a fulfillment of God’s word through the prophets. He knew He had to suffer death on the cross to save the world from sin, and He endured physical and emotional distress for us.
