Yes,I believe, Jesus accomplished all the purposes mentioned in the lesson,but apart from these purposes, I believe, his main purpose was to make me (Periyanayagi) realize, that , I am not alone and that he is there to save me from sins & the punishments.

"Was Jesus trying to incite his death (eg. temple cleansing, accusation of leaders?)

Jesus was not only trying to incite the death of his mortal body, but he also incited that there will be an end to all the deeds of 'satan' as by getting crucified, we all will get saved by asking God to forgive us and spare us from the punishments.

Why did Jesus´ penalty for "sin" need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God?

Jesus' penalty for "sin" need to include physical and emotional pain, as we experience these two pains starting from our birth, till our death. But spiritual seperation can be felt only by a selected few, who have experienced the love of 'GOD' and for that, we need to be matured enough to feel the love of God. We begin to search God only when we face trails and tribulations in life and when we surrender ourselves completely to God,our life changes.At this juncture we feel the seperation from God.Hence 'Jesus' penalty for "sin" need to include physical and emotional pain and not just spiritual seperation from God.
