2709 entries for this category: I believe that Jesus accomplished all these purposes. The Father sent His only Begotten Son as a sacrifice - to redeem the world from its state of sin. Jesus fulfilled His Father's wish by spreading the good news that salvation was near... He moved among the multitudes in wide open spaces teaching them and exhorting them to turn away from worldly desires and to live lives that would lead them to Heaven. He proved that He had come to serve and not be served - showing compassion to those who suffered and healed them even on the Sabbath. He finally suffered torture and died nailed to the cross - the meek lamb to the slaughter - not for anything He did wrong but for the forgiveness of the sins of the world. Oh, Yes! He did accomplish all these purposes! Jesus is the source of life - when we are tired and lonely we turn to Him and He gives us rest. When we are distressed with the trials of life we go to Him and He gives us peace. He tells us to come to Him for He is always there. But such familiarity cannot be taken for granted. It is Love that motivates us to turn to Him and it is obedience that He expects from us. For if we say "I love you Lord" but fail to keep his commandments - there is no Love. If we Love we must obey - for it pleases Jesus, and if we obey the commandments, through Jesus, we will reach the Father and the Father will love us too. How can we love our neighbour unless we are filled with the Love of God...Jesus is the source of that divine virtue - LOVE - and it is only if we follow His teachings, and obey his commands will we be able to grow in love for our neighbours.
