How do you think Peter felt after his discussion with Jesus? I guess Peter realised the great responsibility Jesus was placing on his shoulders - to guide his flock - to lead His people. He must have recommitted himself to the service of Jesus because He genuinely loved Jesus. Despite the fact that he must have also realised that he was to have a torturous death - he reconciled to follow Jesus. Being human, he must have felt a great fear of death - but the Holy Spirit would give him strength.
