"Was Jesus trying to incite his death (eg. temple cleansing, accusation of leaders?) Jesus knew what was going to happen coz He was God also.He knew who would betray and though His lot of work for the people of his own they would deny him.He knew the leaders wrong work which would cause suffering to his people, He had just exposed thier evil intention to everyones eye.He had to do all these thing coz he would love them.He knew how he would die the work he did only for the real love of his people

Why did Jesus´ penalty for "sin" need to include physical and emotional pain - why not just spiritual separation from God? Jesus was God himself so I dont think It was not necessary the spiritual seperation.In the same way He was human being also and need to be suffered like the human being. He came to earth to save the human being from sin, that was done only by the sacrifice of Himself. So as the Savior of the human being He did penalty of sin.
