Why did Jesus use the greeting. "Peace be to you"? Was there special signiificance in this greeting? Jesus used the greeting "peace be to you" because He did not want them to be afraid and also to erase all doubts from their minds speculating if He was the true image of Jesus Christ. So, He used the greeting to put their minds at rest.

Why do you think Jesus chose, after he rose, to show Himself first to Mary Magdalene? Mary was filled with pain when she discovered that the tomb where Jesus was lain was empty. Because of this she wept uncontrollably. So Jesus chose that time to show himself to comfort her and to let her know that He who was dead has arose from the grave and is alive and well. Jesus also used the opportunity to tell Mary to spread the news to his disciples that He has resurrected from the grave.
