This man did asked and believed that if Jesus wanted, He could make him clean. I believe that by touching the leprous man, Jesus proved Himself to be someone Divine because He Himself did not get infected.

Note how Zachariah (the father of John the Baptist) praises God for fulfilling an old promise (oath/covenant) that "we...should serve him (God) without fear, In holiness and righteousness before him all the days of o Salvation means saved from something, such as suffering or the punishment of sin - also called deliverance.

What do people think about John the Baptist even before he is born? Note: Sometimes a big introduction is given for a person who then introduces someone even more important. Luke is announcing the announcer of Jesus. The people thought that John the Baptist was going to be someone great like a prophet because the Hand of the Lord was with Him.
