This is Jesus` sharp response to a trick question about divorce from religious lawyers. What does Jesus say is God`s role in a marriage? What motivation to stay together might Jesus offer a struggling couple? But from the beginning of the creation, God made them male and female. For this cause a man will leave his father and mother, and will join to his wife, and the two will become oneflesh, so that they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate." So in other words God's role is to join them as one flesh and try to get them closer together. For couples that are having trouble they must first try to pinpoint the problem and with the help of God try to fix it and find out what brought them closer together and bring back the love in their family.
