God also sets the pattern of true love, the basis for all love relationships - when you love someone dearly; you are willing to give freely to the point of self-sacrifice. God paid dearly with the life of his Son, the highest price he could pay. Jesus accepted our punishment, paid the price for our sins, and then offered us the new life that he had bought for us. Overflowing love is the natural response to forgiveness and the appropriate consequence of faith. But only those who realize the depth of their sin can appreciate the complete forgiveness God offers them. Jesus had come to rescue all of us his followers, whether we were once extremely wicked or conventionally good, from eternal death. We must appreciate the wideness of God’s mercy? And be grateful for his forgiveness? Because God has forgiven all our sins, we should not withhold forgiveness from others. As we realize how completely Christ has forgiven us, it should produce an attitude of forgiveness toward others. When we don’t forgive others, we are setting ourselves above Christ’s law of love. When we become Christians, we receive the Holy Spirit. God’s presence in our life is proof that we really belong to him. He also gives us the power to love. Rely on that power as you reach out to others. All three members of the Trinity are involved in salvation. The Father loved us so much that he sent his Son to bridge the gap between us. The Father and the Son sent the Holy Spirit to fill our life with love and to enable us to live by his power. With all this loving care, how can we do less than serve him completely!
