Jesus, when asking or commanding something, was not just to make fun out of it or whatsoever the like. It's firstly for Himself that He may be shown to the world the way He's supposed to look like, since we're His representatives in this world; and second it's for us that we may enjoy the true happines and satisfaction that comes out of Love and that we can be able to draw others by the same Love we're Loved. This way Jesus had in mind drawing and attracting the dying world to Him so that they may not perish but have everlasting life in His name. Love is the only way God could conquere the falled mankind. Here is a quotation I usually say: " A hero is not someone who defeats his foes the offensive way, but kneels them down by his sword of Love." Ofcourse no one is hero as Jesus!!
